My wife and I watched it out f her room window. She is in rehab recovering from a very serious Urinary Track Infection. We only had about 98% coverage here in Columbia MO. Seven years ago we had 100% and it got pretty dartk, not so much this time, that little sliver of sun sure was bright. It did cool down 7º they said. We had approved glasses.

I saw a video on u-tube called Chasing Spiders. Check it out! It's some good solid information about over the log and table shooting. Enjoy!

A little snow coming down here now but they say no accumulation to speak of! It snowed about 1/2" on the grass but nothing on the sidewalk or roads. Later in the week there's supposed be some heavier snow.
Things are going okay around here for the condition we're all in!

Good evening to all!
It has cooled off somewhat here in the middle of Missouri. We had our first snow on the 26th of November.
The old timers around here always said that the date of the first tracking snow was how many snows you would have for the winter. I sure wish it had held off until early December!
I'm sure some of you are doing a little shooting so lets hear about it. The shooters at Charlie's Old Farm at Chamois MO have started their bench shooting and will continue most of the winter. They get somewhere between 20 and 30 shooters each Sunday.
I'm just trying to see if anyone is active on this forum. I sure hope so. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and things are going well for everyone.

Are there any Fall shoots scheduled?

Hi there Tony! I can't vouch much for your part of the country but here in central Missouri the Old Farm Shooters are starting a little earlier this year. I think they posted that the shoots were starting in October. A couple of their members are on this site so maybe one will verify this.

This is not really table shooting as we know it. They have been shooting this same match way back in time. Close to 100 years I think. It consist of 3 shoots at a 3" white circle on a black background. The center has a circle worth 13 points then a 12 ring, a 11 ring and 10 ring. So 39 is a perfect score. It's shot open sights off  concrete benches (2) at 60 yrds. Google Old Farm Shooters and you will see the information. This is about an hour and a half drive for me but I have to go to Jefferson City to cross the mighty Missouri River and it adds about 40 minutes on my drive.

I'm sure glad to see you posting on here and hope you can stir up some shooting somewhere in your country. I've tried to start some conversations but seems like everyone's fingers are broken! (haha) My wife and everyone I know says I talk alot but there's nothing wrong with that. You don't find out much information by keeping the mouth shut!

Good evening!
I havent been on here hardly at all or even checked in to the forum lately.
On Feb. 25th my wife had a little spell here at home. I took her to an Urgent Care in Columbia and they immediately told me to take her to a ER. We went to Boone Hospital, one of the 4 excellent hospitals in town. She walked in on her own. When I got the car parked and went in things started to happen. Her heart rate was 20bpm. They immediately put in a temporary pacemaker. While doing so she went into cardiac arrest and was shocked out of that. Then her heart doctor said they would put in a permanant pacemaker the next morning. They did and while this was being done she had a stroke, all in a 24 hour period. Needles to say a we've been addressing the problems asociated with this. She came home on the 5th of April. It has slowed her up by 60% or so.

I got on here tonight and didn't see any activity in the past 3 or 4 months. It's a shame this forum just quit talking to one another. I know you have things to say and report of your shooting activites and I would love to hear about them. I've met several members of this forum and even held a table shoot at our club. Then it seemed the bottom just dropped out of it. There has been no mention of the table shoots or over the log matches that have been going on, Friendship, Allen Coons or even the Sgt York match. The guy's at Charlie's Old Farm shot most every Sunday all winter but have now quit, except for a special shoot or two until October when they will be at it again. I know guy's we can do better.

Enough of my ramblin's.

Back in the days that I was shooting my .40 cal I shot the 60 yrds with 65grains of Goex, a 395 ball and .18 canvas patching lubed with spit. On windy days I'd up my powder to 75 grns just to get it down there a little faster.
It seemed to work okay.

We have that same saying here in "Ole Missery"! ! Closest I've been to Ohio is Friendship IN. I did spend 11 weeks at Ft. Knox in 1964 at the radio operators school and a few nights in bars in Louisville if that counts!

Ned, our summer hasnt been to bad as far as real hot weather went. We have had record breaking temperatures the past 3 days here, 95º today and the high for tomorrow (Thursday the 22nd) is forecast to be 62º! Only in Missouri!
I do hope this hot spell moderates a little before reaching your neck of the woods.

There was a record breaking temperature set at the Columbia Regional Airport this afternoon at 3pm. It was 96º! Come on fall! It's supposed to be warmer than normal the next couple of days then high for next Thursday in low 60's before returning to the high 70º range until the first week in October. Come on fall!
The guy's at Charlie's Old Farm shooters haven't let the weather brother them. Winning high score Sunday was a 36. Good job!!  ... Big John

Well another week has gone by and no one has anything to say. The weather has moderated somewhat and maybe someone is getting out and shooting a little. Please tell us about it or make some remarks of any kind. The guy's at Charlie's Old Farm here in Missouri have been holding some shoots right along and their regular shooting matches will be starting soon. They don't shoot much different than a table shoot just a little farther. 60 yrds and 3 shots for a score. A 1" circle worth 13 points and then a circle every 1/2". 13 ---12---11---10 and so forth. Most all Sunday"s the winning score will be a 36 or higher. Try it sometime and tell me how humbling it can be!
We have a couple of their members on here but their fingers are silence also! That's a shame.

Yes, roofing tar paper the thinner kind not the real thick kind but the thicker kind may work and you wouldn't have to fold it. I folded it because it seemed to burn better. I think you'll like it!

Good evening Ned!
Back when I was shooting and need a sight black I finally settled on tar paper. It puts out a very dense black soot that is a little tougher than candle soot. I cut black felt paper about 3/8" wide and 4" long. Thats what my shooting bow trays were. I folded the tar paper in half length wise and carried one in my shooting bag also. It worked really well, lit well even in the breeze and easily blown out and saved for another time. About a half dozen of these would last all shooting season. My experience!!

The rain storms that gathered up over me last night just made it to St. Louis and then eased up a little I think. Thank Goodness! I only got about an inch of rain during the late night and we were still needing rain around here.
It's supposed to cool down some this coming week and the high's are only gonna be in the low 90º range! How come 95 can sound cooler? Any time there's 3 digit temperatures it just makes my little ole brain think HOT!
Get out and shoot some then let us know what's happening!

I sure would hate to see it shut down but realize what you're dealing with. Seems like I'm the only one that wants to strike up a conversation but not getting but a very little response.
I know guy's are out shooting and wish my health would let me do what I really enjoyed doing these past 50 years. You'd think they would want to discuss something even it's only the weather or related items.
I'm sorry the rain that came your way formed up right over me here in central missouri then strengthened up and poured down on y'all!
I'm gonna try to post something about muzzleloading maybe everyday,  (I do check this forum every night,)until you all get tired and tell me to quit! I've met a awful lot of fine people in this sport. Some I've never met eye to eye but could call them a friend. Barry Pearson of Winnipeg Manatoba for one.
Enough of my ramblin' for now.

Hello Tony! It seems like there is very little interest in the table shooting as of late. I check this site every time I'm on the computer and thats everyday! I met some real fine people on here and even shot with a few when I held a table shoot here in the middle of Missouri, but lately there has been very little activity. I thought it would pick up when spring arrived and I'm sure they must be shooting somewhere. I'll try and last them out but it is getting discouraging.
I loved the table shooting but it just fell to nothing around here close. There may be a little going on at Ft. Osage near K.C. but I haven't heard of anything. I thought at least they would gabat each other once in awhile.

Sorry to hear of your troubles there Chuck but glad you're recovering well! Feeling better is what it's all about.

In 2016 I had to have a bovine valve installed because my valve went bad! My heart came back out of rythum and they doctored with meds for a while but ended up stopping it and it restarted in rythum but wouldn't come up to speed. 55 bpm. So they installed a pace maker and raised the heart beat to 71 bpm. I feel real well but have shortness of breath after exerting a little. I just have to pace myself.

So I'm glad your hip is doing well and also the bypasses. Medical technology is a wonderful thing and I'm glad it's helped us both.

It looks like it's gonna heat up a little in the coming days so stay cool and develop you some single hole punching loads!! lol

Yes sir Schuetzen I'm doing fine as can be. Still have trouble getting around with these worn out knees and get really short of breath. Sitting here in this chair I have no pains at all until I stand up!
I check this forum every night and wonder how such dedicated table shooters have nothing to say about their sport. I sure wish I could get around better and put on table matches because I really had fun.
Thanks for being concerned......I miss the conversation on here.
I hope you're doing well and staying cool until things get more tolerable! Keep up your shooting and report results to us.
