As I have never been able to attend the chunk gun matches where the top shooters are in attendance, I was wondering if drop tubes were used or if they just dump the powder down at the muzzle and maybe tap the side of the barrel to settle?

Thx,
Mike

ClaudeH,

Thanks for the feedback, I got in touch with the machinist that made them and he is going to send me the contact information for the guy that is selling them.  I asked about the long screw and he said he had them laying around and decided to put them on there to hook your finger around to react against the spring force when compressing the slide.

Thanks,
Mike

ClaudeH,

Thanks for the information.  I have sent an e-mail to the contact, will see what he says.  If I ever reach the designer I will try to ask your question to him.

Thx,

Does anyone know where you can order one of these?  Do you by chance have a card for the guy you bought it from?

Thx,

I know Swiss powder is the best for accuracy, but what about caps?  Has anyone found cap brands (CCI, Win, etc) to be best for accuracy and do the magnum caps help or hurt accuracy in any way??

Thx,
WB

Dag, my delimma on SWISS is whether the new "CAVIAR" formulation (which is available in 3F) is any better for accuracy or whether it is more of a benefit for "metering" in a powder thrower for cartridge use.  The CAVIAR formulation is about $4-5 more per pound and my powder supplier has both.  It was apparently introduced in the US about 2 years ago.  The CAVIAR powder is round balls, not fragmented like regular powder.  I was wondering if anyone had tested it against the standard 3F.  As I plan to weigh the charges used I am not concerned by the metering benefit.

By the way, do the top chunk shooters do a volume measure or weight their charges, just wondering??

When you go to the SWISS products page on the schuetzenpowder.com page it does not refer to it, however, if you go to the ink at the bottom of this page and open the "Product Information Download" pdf it is referred to at the bottom and their is a picture of it on this page as well.

Any thoughts??

Thx,

I know that you guys say SWISS is the way to go.  My question is whether the "Caviar" (ball powder) version that is slightly more expensive is of any benefit to accuracy.

Thanks everyone for sharing your "secret".  Don't know where I got the idea that Teflon was not allowed, must have gotten confused with the table rules as mentioned.  I will study on what has been said and give some of this a try.  Thanks to all and good shooting this season.

Around my area in TX most shooters use Teflon patch material at the occassional log matches.  I was wondering at the big matches where this is not allowed what the shooters typically use to lubricate their patch material?  It is my understanding that teflon patching is not allowed at York and the other big matches.  Do you soak the patch material in a lubricant mixture of oil/water and then allow to dry and put in an air tight container for use later?  Any recommended formulas?  I am wanting to try something other than teflon patch material in case I ever venture up to one of the big matches sometime.  Thanks for any help you care to share.
