I know that you guys say SWISS is the way to go. My question is whether the "Caviar" (ball powder) version that is slightly more expensive is of any benefit to accuracy.

yes -it is more accurate. All the top shpoters want that little extra that swiss gives.

Dag, my delimma on SWISS is whether the new "CAVIAR" formulation (which is available in 3F) is any better for accuracy or whether it is more of a benefit for "metering" in a powder thrower for cartridge use. The CAVIAR formulation is about $4-5 more per pound and my powder supplier has both. It was apparently introduced in the US about 2 years ago. The CAVIAR powder is round balls, not fragmented like regular powder. I was wondering if anyone had tested it against the standard 3F. As I plan to weigh the charges used I am not concerned by the metering benefit.
By the way, do the top chunk shooters do a volume measure or weight their charges, just wondering??
When you go to the SWISS products page on the schuetzenpowder.com page it does not refer to it, however, if you go to the ink at the bottom of this page and open the "Product Information Download" pdf it is referred to at the bottom and their is a picture of it on this page as well.
Any thoughts??

I think you'll find the chunk, and table, shooters doling out their powder both ways. Obviously weighing a charge is more precise but a good measure used consistently is probably not far behind.
