Bryan Station Table Match, Sat. August 1

As always, thanks to everybody that came today.  Especially Pab and Fred who made the trip across the Big Sandy just because they like working with me on the scoring so much .  It was great to see everyone back at Bryan Station for the first time this year (in August, which just shows what a year it has been).  The weather was decent, not too hot, but we had a few stiff breezes, some clouds and even a sprinkle of rain at one point.

Carolyn served us Hotdogs and Hamburgers with chips and potato salad and all the fixings.  For desert, Gail brought her famous pudding, Sterling brought his magically delicious brownies, and Pab brought a really good pecan pie and snicker-doodles.

8 people shot today, including Tom C., who did quite well in light of the fact that this was his first muzzleloader match of any kind -- not just table shoot -- ever and he seemed to be getting the hang of it quickly as the match went on.

1 Bob G. 2.1240
2 Carl K. 2.3365
3 Don R. 2.8580
4 Scott M. 3.0645
5 Bo C. 3.4750
6 Steve B. 3.5640
7 Sterling M. 3.7340
8  Tom C. 9.1120

Bob G. shot a good consistent match, and he never really let up, but Carl K. and Don R. didn't give him that opportunity.  As you can see, everyone shot really well -- with a 3.7340 in 7th place!  And, all of the scorers were impressed by Scott M. who was shooting here for the first time and shooting a tiny .32 caliber ball that made a sharp, clean hole -- and keeping up quite well with the .40's, .45's and .50's.  The quality of the strings overall was shockingly good given that the conditions weren't exactly perfect, and a string of all the match-winning X's would be just 0.9205" long.

Don R. shot the best X with a shot that we recorded as "0.001" but could just as well have been 0.000, because it wasn't really measurable.  Don deserves the Silver Eagle we owe him for that shot, and it could easily earn him the best X of the year too!  I have a feeling he will carry it around to show to people for a while.

Sterling Martin took home the 50 yard pot shot with on that just bumped up against the X.  The 50 yard shots are pretty impressive considering everybody takes only 1 practice shot at 50 yards before shooting for score!

Everybody get home safe, we hope we will be able to do this again in October!

Three things you must remember while target shooting. (1) Align the sights carefully. (2) Squeeze the trigger. (3) Say how did it get over there. http://prwarner.wix.com/mlts-masters
