March Owl Creek Shoot Results

Please forgive me for being this late with the results of last Saturday's (21 March 2015)  table match!
The weather was beautiful! The morning temperatures started out near 40º and with bright sunshine climbing to near 70º before the day was done! A small fire in the stove kept the club house nice for the morning!
Richard and Gerald came over from the Kansas City area and gave us another lesson on how to shoot! David was up from Tuscumbia again and that my friends made up the crowd! I was so hoping for more shooters but it didn't happen.
Well, I stretched the match to a 10 shot string for the day because we had the time and I didn't want the guys driving a long distance just to shoot a 5 shot match. The targets were at 30 yards.
Match 1 was started at 10 am and we were out in the full sunshine!
I think Richard, Gerald and David were shooting the same equipment that I reported on the last shoot and I was trying a Deer Creek Under Hammer with a 31" barrel in .45 cal.. I was using 65 grains of Goex 3F and .445 ball and .022 canvas lubed with spit. I had a open notch rear sight and a Lyman hooded front sight with a blade insert.
This was the first time I had ever fired this rifle. Want more excuses, call me! hahaha
Here are the results . . . . .
Gerald Hartman shot in this order ...
.420  .203  .473  .886  .350  .879  .463  .011  .218 .443 for a 4.364 string.
Richard Brinkman shot ...
.396  .190  .866  .502  .819  .508  .498  .547  1.104 .579 for a 6.009 string.
David Hortman shot ...
.100  1.591  1.373  1.315  .806  1.324  .455  .795  2.046  .175 for a 9.98 string.
John McCray shot ...
.797  1.357  1.381  1.025  1.470  .764  .685  .450  1.498  1.300 for a 10.725 string.
close shot each match ....
sweetest shot of the match ... Gerald's .011
Half of the entry fee's went to the club and the other half was paid out the closest shot of each match and 1st and second short strings!
While Richard and I scored and recorded the shots, my wife and David's wife served dinner consisting of cornbread, ham and beans and ham sandwiches.
It might have been a small shoot but it was big on fun!!! I'm already looking forward to the next one, 25th April 2015 at the club!
Big John

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

Three things you must remember while target shooting. (1) Align the sights carefully. (2) Squeeze the trigger. (3) Say how did it get over there. http://prwarner.wix.com/mlts-masters
