I just turned 40 in January – I’ve been told I’m the Baby of the group of great folks I hang out with and enjoy shooting black powder.  My Father and Mother got me into Black Power Shooting and buckskinning rendezvous when I was 5 years old.  Growing up in Southeastern Colorado back in the 80’s and 90’s – Black Powder shooting at rendezvous was a pretty big deal; it started declining in the 90’s.  At that time I moved to Missouri for School and then Work.  I was only able to shoot once a year at our annual shoot and rendezvous outside of Kit Carson (http://kcmm.us) from the 90’s to 2011 due to school and work.  I work for an industrial and commercial HVAC supplier headquartered here in Kansas City for 14 years I traveled all over the country and several international trips doing service work.  Back in 2010 I took a different position in the company and this freed up some time to start getting serious about shooting.  Since 2011 I’ve joined 4 Black Powder clubs here in Missouri and have participated in the annual state wide black powder aggregate “Missouri Off Hand Association” (http://missourioffhand.org).  I’ve gotten myself fully involved sharing my time and my skill set to help keep black powder shooting alive.  I recall a couple of years ago telling my mother “This is great I can go shoot muzzleloaders almost every weekend, I just throw the rifle and shooting gear in the truck and off I go, no funny clothes or primitive camping required.”  I still do the primitive camping and clothes when required and I still make the annual trip back to southeastern Colorado to help run our annual shoot.  I love this sport and hope we can keep it going long after I’m gone!
