Florida Table Shoot April 9

We had our first Table shoot yesterday at the Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club in Palm Bay, FL.  None of our members were familiar with this type of shooting, nor were they aware of String Scoring, use of Spotter targets, etc.
That said, it's fair to say that everyone enjoyed themselves and we got a number of comments on how much fun it was. We also heard several of our shooters, walking back from pulling their "X" targets get to use the phrase:
"How did that get over there..????"
As an introductory match, we decided to use a 3-shot course of fire for each entry.
String totals for 3 shots were:
1st place                Howard Middleton              0.687 inches
2nd place               Bob Bolick                        1.989 inches
3rd Place               Jerry Taylor                        2.106 inches
Congratulations Howard..!!
After the shooting, we enjoyed a great lunch, and the exchange of excuses...

Re: Florida Table Shoot April 9

Thanks for the report.  Sounds like a good start to a fun game.  Were you doing 3 shots per target like Friendship chunk or three relays?

The perfect spotter practice group followed by a totally different match group is a serious gremlin...

Re: Florida Table Shoot April 9

Just one shot per target, 3 targets for a total string score.

Re: Florida Table Shoot April 9

Only 3 shots all day for score?

Why not 10?  Just curious.

Re: Florida Table Shoot April 9

Good Question Slacker.
We knew we were introducing something totally new to our BP group. We didn't want anyone feeling like they had to get in for 10 shots to have a score for record, plus the shots fired to establish the group on their spotter target. The idea was to keep things fun and pretty lighthearted for all concerned. Based upon the comments received, I believe we accomplished our mission.
This isn't a group of serious competitors...just guys and gals who enjoy getting together to burn some powder. Keeping it at 3 shots allows folks to give all the unique aspects of this new game a try.
Next time, we may go up to 5, or even 10...that will be decided by the group, now that they have had a "taste".

Three things you must remember while target shooting. (1) Align the sights carefully. (2) Squeeze the trigger. (3) Say how did it get over there. http://prwarner.wix.com/mlts-masters
