There's actually 8 hits on this AR500 3/8 x 10 inch gong, The top cluster is 2 hits from 60 yards and 1 hit from 70 yards, while the bottom 5 shots are from 50 yards. I grouped way better at 60/70 yards.
I hadn't been out shooting for awhile and had the itch to get out and do a little gong ringing. I was using my half stock 7/8x36" .45 GMB caplock rifle with a 53 grain 3fg Goex load with a .018 pillow ticking spit patch with a .445 ball.
Our little group of traditional ml shooters use to get out and do this kind of shooting the last several years, but last year we didn't have one get together. Seemed like everyone was so busy. We're gong to try and get out this year. I hope! Anyway, we prefer the metal to paper these days for our offhand shooting (we're all getting the "old" eyes syndrome) and we also like reactive targets.
It was sure nice to get out to the Range this morning. I did take a ninth shot at the gong from 70 yards but missed.

Glad hear you're back behind a rifle, Joe, good to see you post on the board again also.It doesn't much matter what your shooting, as long as you're having fun.

It was very enjoyable for sure. I like this site, and I know it'll start getting lots more traffic once good weather rolls around.
