Bryan Station Table Match, Sat. September 12

As always, thanks to everybody that came today. This was our catch-up match (to make up for matches cancelled for coronavirus) on what was supposed to be the first day of Friendship.  We had 16 shooters from various places: WV, including our friend Shelby on a first-time visit our way, Ohio, Indiana and, of course Kentucky (Central and Northern).  Buck and his grandson Matt were welcomed first time to Bryan Station Table Match, as well, although Buck had been here years ago for other shoots.  We also had a couple of first-time table shooters from the local area, one starting out at 14 years old and the grandson of a Bryan Station member (who was also shooting), and one old time Bryan Station member who has returned to muzzle loaders after a couple of decades off.

Carolyn served us fried chicken, well-seasoned green beans, home made macaroni and cheese, her best slaw, and rolls. Dave and Judy C. brought in some very nice, big tomatoes.  For desert, Barb D., Judy C.,  and Gail G. all contributed at least one delicious dumpling, cake or pudding dish, and I think there must have been multiple entries in more than one case.

Conditions were not optimal.  Practice went fairly well under overcast sky with light breezes, then a stiff blowing rain started as soon as the last target was hung for match #1, and it rained on and off for several matches, ending up about like it started, overcast with light breezes.  The top 6 finishers were:
Bob Grim 1.9660
Dave Collier 2.3520
Dave Krumme 2.3680
Bill Disbro 2.4070
Don Ross 2.7760
Carl King 2.9010
It was brutal at the top, even without the rain, but Bob G. took it over the top with a string under 2" -- only the second time that has been done (first by Dave K. in July this year) and the first string in the 1's at Bryan Station, and he took several matches in the process.  Dave C. and Dave K. were right behind him (and occasionally ahead of him) the whole time with strings that would win a lot of matches, and even the 4th, 5th and 6th place finishers were under 3" with many really good shots.  The composite string of all the best x's from each match would be 0.9300, which will give you an idea of how competitive this match was, especially considering the conditions!

Bob G also took home the silver eagle for best x with 0.045", just edging out Dave K. with 0.046".

Sterling M. took home the 50 yard pot shot (for the second Bryan Station match in a row) with one that just beat out Don R.

Everybody get home safe, and we hope you had a good time and look forward to seeing you again!

Three things you must remember while target shooting. (1) Align the sights carefully. (2) Squeeze the trigger. (3) Say how did it get over there. http://prwarner.wix.com/mlts-masters
