10 shooters came to shoot yesterday. There were folks from Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.
It was a crazy weather day yesterday for the shoot. Light rain at 11:00 am as we started to eat, but by 12:00 Noon the rain had stopped and it was very cloudy through the first 3 matches. Sun came out and it turned to hot and muggy. Lite breeze most of the day.
Lunch was fantastic, pulled pork, sloppy joe's and brats. There were baked beans, corn pudding, deviled eggs and cole slaw plus brownies, german chocklate cake and blackberry cobbler. I know I missed a few things, a huge thanks to Bryan Station and the ladies that prepared and brought all of the dishes.
The competition was intense and the scores show that. 6 out of the 10 shooters shot under 3" strings. The best X was 0.003" and if you added up the 10 first place scores you had a string measure of 0.941".
The results:
1. Dave Krumme -OH- 2.391"
2. Dave Collier - IN- 2.566"
3. Brandon Thorp -KY- 2.657"
4. Bill Disbro -OH- 2.871"
5. Stering Martin -KY- 2.976"
6. Bobby Grim -KY- 2.978"
7. Carl King -KY- 3.307"
8. Don Ross -WVA- 3.792"
9. James Dews -KY- 6.616"
10. Bob McClure - KY- 8.476"
This was James's first ever table shoot and Bob is relatively new to table shooting.
Sterling Martin shot the best X with a 0.003" shot and won a Silver Eagle Dollar Coin that Jeanette Hillard donated.
Kentucky's Corps of Long Riflemen wants to thank all of the shooters who came to compete, all of the folks from Bryan Station Muzzleloaders for hosting the shoot and running and scoring the shoot and all that prepared the great food we all enjoyed.
Wayne Jenkins was a long time member of the Corps, a well known barrel maker, an avid over the log shooter and was very involved in reviving table shooting for all of us to enjoy today. The shoot provided for a donation to the Disabled American Veterans unit in Salyersville, KY , Waynes favorite cause in his name.
